Quick Look At Tango

Posted by Brad Wasson in "Windows Phone Talk" @ 07:30 AM

http://www.theverge.com/2012/2/15/2...creenshots-leak

"Screenshots of an alleged Windows Phone "Tango" build leaked to the internet today and demonstrate a number of new features in Microsoft's next Windows Phone update. Russian site WP7forum says that Tango will include the ability to export contacts to SIM, manage domestic / international roaming, and handle multiple attachments in a single MMS message."

There's not too much to go by here, save for a few little snippets about what might potentially be included in Windows Phone Tango. We do expect, of course, to hear more about future Windows Phone details at the upcoming Mobile Word Congress.

Windows Phone 7 Updates For 2012

Posted by Nurhisham Hussein in "Windows Phone News" @ 11:30 PM

http://blog.laptopmag.com/windows-p...pgrades-in-2012

"If you're one of the few people out there breathlessly waiting for information about the next major Windows Phone update, you can now exhale. WMPoweruser has gotten its hands on a release schedule outlining Microsoft's plans for Windows Phone through the fourth quarter of 2012."

There's going to be two updates this year: Tango will be released by the 2nd quarter of 2012, and will allow WP7 to run on "budget" devices. Apollo on the other hand is probably the update that everybody would want, as it is intended to put WP7 into businesses (finally!) and put in play the kind of top end hardware the competition is offering. All good right? But Apollo is only slated for release at the end of the year, at which point WP7 might be playing catch up still.

http://www.bgr.com/2011/11/29/nokia...+Genius+Report)

"We just got the lowdown on one of Nokia's upcoming flagship devices currently set to launch in early 2012 in the United States."

BGR is reporting that Nokia's flagship Lumia phone destined for the U.S. will be the Lumia 900. It will have a 1.4 GHz processor, 4.3 inch ClearBlack AMOLED display and an 8MP camera. The Lumia 900 is reported to ship with Tango pre-installed. It is set to launch in early 2012, presumably in January or February during Nokia's planned marketing blitz.

Tango Now Available in the Marketplace

Posted by Adan Galvan in "Windows Phone News" @ 09:00 AM

http://pocketnow.com/windows-phone/...t-app-available

Good news for those that just purchased one of the new Windows Phones available on AT&T or T-Mobile! The first video chat application is now available in the marketplace. Tango allows Windows Phone the ability to use their front-facing camera to call up their friends and family. The application even allows users who don't have a front-facing camera to join in on the action by utilizing the back-facing camera to display the surroundings of those users. Although the app is not as refined as Skype, users will have to make due until Skype is officially announced (hopefully sometime soon).

Video Calling On Windows Phone 7

Posted by Brad Wasson in "Windows Phone Talk" @ 04:30 PM

http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/15/...tc-titan-video/

"Looks like Mango's got yet another trick up its sleeve -- at least, a trick that'll be noticeable on HTC's looming Titan. Windows Phone Director Aaron Woodman -- the same Aaron that stopped by our own Engadget Show a few months back -- recently paused to show off a Tango video calling application on the aforementioned handset. We knew good and well that the front-facing Titan camera would be put to use by something, and now you know."

As Mango-based Windows Phone 7 smartphones start to make their appearances it seems that video calling is a possibility if your handset has the capability. The mammoth HTC Titan seems to be able to do it!

HD7 With Early Build of Windows Phone "Tango" for Sale on Facebook: Update - Pulled

Posted by Darren Blade in "Windows Phone Software" @ 07:00 AM

"Interestingly, the other day we saw what was thought to be the first screenshot of Windows Phone "Tango", the next iteration of the OS coming after "Mango". Starting with build 8200 and higher, "Tango" is still a bit of a mystery, seeing as "Mango" hasn't even rolled out yet. Yesterday we saw mention of it as a low-cost option for Microsoft."

Well this was short-lived! No sooner than the news hit it has been pulled. If you are the sort to dance on the edge, you will have to wait a little bit longer before taking "Tango" for a spin. In the meantime, enjoy the refreshing Mango when it lands. The countdown has already begun, and Mango is just around the corner.
