In New Survey Developers Pick Android Over iPhone

Posted by Karey Westfall in "Android News" @ 10:00 AM

http://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile...prefer-android/

"A new survey from Vision Mobile and Bluevia finds that Android is the most popular mobile platform amongst developers, with 67 percent of mobile developers indicating they're developing for Android in 2011-that's an 8 percent improvement over 2010."

We have a winner, folks! A new survey just released from Vision Mobile and Bluevia found that Android is the most popular platform for developers! But not far behind is development for iPhone. Does this mean that Android is slated to be the market leader in years to come?

How Much Storage Do You Need in your Windows Phone 7?

Posted by Jason Dunn in "Windows Phone Talk" @ 10:00 AM

My last survey seemed to court some controversy because people wanted it to ask the question of why someone needed removable storage; I simply wanted to know if people basically bought a storage card and left it in the phone for long periods of time - taking it out only to upgrade to a bigger card - or if they needed to take it out regularly to achieve certain functionality/scenarios. This question is similarly focused: if you're planning on buying a Windows Phone 7, how much storage do you need/want in your phone?

How Do You Primarily Get Your Work and Personal Email?

Posted by Jason Dunn in "Windows Phone Talk" @ 05:29 PM

I was involved in an email discussion today about how people get their email. So let's do another poll: tell me how you get your email, both work and personal. Expand on your answer in the comments if you wish. I think I've listed every possible combination...and please note that I said "Primarily" - for instance, I have a Gmail account, but I don't actively use it. Day to day, I use a combination of IMAP and Exchange solutions - no Web-based solutions (let's ignore the fact that Exchange has Outlook Web Access for the purpose of this survey).

Windows Phone 7 Purchase Survey

Posted by Jason Dunn in "Windows Phone Talk" @ 03:32 PM

I'm curious about whether the readers of Windows Phone Thoughts will be purchasing a Windows Phone 7 device before the end of the year - presuming that they'll be available in initial launch markets before the end of the year, are you planning on purchasing one? Vote in the poll, and post a comment if you want to add further context.

Take the SMB (Small/Medium Business) Survey, Maybe Win a Prize

Posted by Jason Dunn in "Thoughts Media Off Topic" @ 10:32 PM

I've had a crazy week, so I'm just getting to this now, but it's important so keep reading: if you're a small or medium-sized business (SMB) owner or decision maker, please take a few minutes and complete this survey. The information is being collected by some trustworthy friends of mine at Ivy Worldwide, and when you complete the survey (I did, it took about four minutes) you'll be entered in a random drawing to win a Lenovo A70z (valued at $729 USD), an LG Bluetooth headset, an LG Bluetooth stereo headset, or an LG Bluetooth solar car kit & emergency charger. Fast, simple, and prizes to be had. What could be easier? The survey closes today (Monday) though, so act fast!

Spb Software House Announces Survey Results

Posted by Darius Wey in "Pocket PC News" @ 03:40 AM

http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/abo...vey2008.html?en

"Spb Software, a leading mobile software developer announces the results of fifth annual Spb Survey. This year, Spb Survey was held between 10th and 24th of November, and aimed to track changes in mobile device preferences and brand loyalty, smartphone and software use cases, user profiles and behavior. Originally, Spb Survey addressed only the Windows Mobile audience, but this year, users of all mobile platforms were invited to participate. The majority of Spb Survey respondents are mobile activists with clear interest in mobile technology, and are not fully representative of the entire global mobile community. However, as mobile connectivity enters more spheres of everyday life - the global mobile community is becoming more active and technologically-savvy throughout, and accurate industrial outlooks and estimations can be made, based on the answers provided by Spb Survey respondents."

Spb Software House has released the results of this year's Spb Survey. Some interesting (though not necessarily surprising) points:

  • 49% of all survey participants currently use HTC devices, followed by 6% who use HP devices, 5.5% who use ASUS devices, and 4% who use E-TEN (now Acer) devices;
  • The TyTN II is the most popular device, with the Diamond and Touch Pro claiming second and third place respectively; and
  • 80% of survey participants backup their data, which is consistent with what was reported in previous years.

Participate In the 5th Annual Spb Survey and Win!

Posted by Darius Wey in "Pocket PC Events" @ 11:30 AM

http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/support/survey.php

"Spb Software, world's leading mobile software developer, invites all mobile users to participate in its fifth annual Spb Survey. The Spb Survey is a mobile software industry report that identifies the changing user profiles, mobile device preferences, and handset use cases. Spb Software will release a report on the results of its fifth annual Spb Survey in the beginning of December 2008. Issued by a mobile software usability expert and a recognized brand on the consumer market, Spb Survey reaches out to mobile users directly, bypassing the prism of mobile operators and professional analytical houses. This year's survey has a more compact structure, new questions, and is supported by eXpansys, the world's leading retailer of smartphones and handheld devices with wireless connectivity. A few lucky, randomly picked Spb Survey participants will receive valuable 'thank you' gifts, such as a Windows Mobile device or software by Spb."

As well as providing the industry with a valuable insight into changing trends, the annual Spb Survey is a chance for you to win big. This year, Spb Software House will select participants on a random basis and offer them prizes. Said prizes range from bundles of Spb software to any Windows Mobile device and related accessories valued at up to $1,000 USD. Now, if that's not attractive enough to encourage participation, then I'm not sure what else is.
