PPCSG Test Drives the Omnia

Posted by Darius Wey in "Pocket PC Hardware" @ 11:18 AM

Fancy Samsung's latest entry into the Windows Mobile market? If you do, PPCSG has just posted a video review of the software, so be sure to check it out. It doesn't have quite the same "wow" factor as HTC's TouchFLO 3D, but it still goes a long way toward making Windows Mobile more touch-friendly.

Elecont Pocket PC and Smartphone Manager

Posted by Nurhisham Hussein in "Pocket PC Software" @ 09:00 AM

http://software.pocketpcthoughts.co...cket-PC-manager

"Each of us collided with necessity to close the program for clearing memory for other programs or quickly switch between programs or see the started programs. Windows Mobile does not have convenient means which can help us with this. Elecont Pocket PC and Smartphone manager will give to you a fast and convenient way of management of your device. You can control your device only in two clicks -- open programs, close all except this or close all. In addition you'll always have the main indicators like overall memory usage and battery and memory usage for each program."

Yet another task manager? This one though is a little different - rather than just messing around with the close button, Elecont has elected to approach the problem by using a today/home screen plugin. I really like the idea of an exclusion list - if you had for example a program you want running all the time (Pocket Hack Master springs to mind), this is a life-saver. Another plus point is the app supports all versions of Windows Mobile from WM2003 to WM6.1. Elecont Manager is available for $9.99 through our affiliate links - click here for the Professional version, and here for the Standard version.

Swoosh Through Your Objet d’Album Art with FlipSide

Posted by Paul Martin in "Pocket PC Software" @ 07:00 PM

http://www.electricpocket.com/flipside/

"FlipSide, the MP3 player from Electric Pocket that has had BlackBerry users buzzing, is now available to users of Windows Mobile devices such as the Treo 700xw, Mogul, Ace, and Blackjack. The feature that has made FlipSide such an instant hit among BlackBerry users is its iPhone-like interface that allows users to visually "swoosh" through their music quickly and easily. Navigating through music and selecting tunes is a simple process with FlipSide: scroll through the Album Covers, or flick through them using your finger on the screen, then click on the navigation button to open up a vertical list of the tracks. The spacebar is used to start, pause and skip songs, while the navigation button is used to scroll either left or right to either fast forward or rewind within a song."

The iPhonification of Windows Mobile trend continues with the release of FlipSide, which brings the ability to flip through your music collection using the album covers on Windows Mobile 5 and 6 devices. It will play NON-DRM wma and mp3 files. When choosing album art, it suggests 200 x 200 for best performance, so I wouldn't expect Zune or iPod quality images, but it still looks pretty good. You can find a free 3-day trial for touchscreen or smartphone devices at our affiliate stores.

VITO Updates AudioNotes with Touch Interface in Audio Notes Touch

Posted by Paul Martin in "Pocket PC Software" @ 01:00 AM

"VITO Technology reincarnates its best-seller AudioNotes into brand new Audio Notes Touch with absolutely new finger-friendly interface for audio recording on Windows Mobile. Together with great functionality of the irreplaceable MP3 recorder Audio Notes Touch has become easy to use. The support of ID3 tags will be appreciated by the most users who record lots of files everyday. The features that Audio Notes Touch inherited from VITO AudioNotes are the following: the ability to record MP3 files (low, middle, and high quality), calls auto record (where hardware permits), microphone sensitivity enhancement, speakerphone auto on, VAS (voice activation system), and many more. The main difference in Audio Notes Touch is the brand-new user-interface. The application is touch-oriented, so you can perform all necessary actions only with fingers. The stylish finger scrolling through the list of audio notes, T9 look-up and big buttons is a major breakthrough in mobile audio recording."

VITO Technology has updated Audionotes with the touch interface with the release of Audio Notes Touch. The software makes nice use of the auto-completed ID3 tags, as it allows you to sort the incoming/outgoing calls, time and date of creation, caller's name, etc. You can download a demo at our affiliate software store.
