"Back in May, editors of French website MonWindowsPhone compiled a list of complaints and bug reports from Samsung Omnia 7 users on their forums."

It's always good to hear when manufacturers respond to user complaints. In this case, Samsung has just announced an update for the Omnia 7 to address user complaints and other bug fixes will be released in the coming weeks. In addition, this update will ready the phone for the Mango.

Microsoft WP7 Update News For May 3rd

Posted by Richard Chao in "Windows Phone Software" @ 09:25 PM

http://windowsteamblog.com/windows_...pdate-news.aspx

"Hi everyone. Today we started delivering the February and March updates to the HTC Surround on AT&T and to customers of Deutsche Telekom in Europe."

According to the latest Microsoft blog about the NoDo update, the update is now being pushed to the AT&T HTC Surround and customers of Deutsche Telekom. Optus and Telstra customers in Australia are also being pushed the NoDo update. On the bad news side, the update push process has been halted for Samsung Omnia 7 owners. Also, some AT&T Samsung Focus owners may see a delay in their notification depending on who makes their flash memory chip.

Also reported is the 7392 update. This is a security update to address the SSL certificate issue related to the Comodo security breach.

Samsung Omnia 7 Worthy Of Your Attention?

Posted by Brad Wasson in "Samsung Windows Phones" @ 08:00 AM

http://www.mobilityminded.com/10295...windows-phone-7

"The Samsung Omnia 7 is Samsung's first Windows Phone 7 device, and it was even the first retail Windows Phone 7 device I got my hands on. When looking at and holding the Samsung Omnia 7, you'll notice that this is a really large phone. I've been using it for 1.5 weeks now, and although it's size I don't feel it's bulky. It's size is large, but not too large in my opinion. The Samsung Omnia 7 distinguishes itself by the large and crystal clear display."

Paul Willen of MobilityMinded has tested out the Samsung Omnia 7, Samsung's first Windows Phone 7 device, and liked it quite a bit. I found the most interesting part of his review was the experience he had with the onboard camera. Although he had some issues with the flash, he really like the camera and image quality. Other reviews of other Windows Phone 7 phones that I have seen seem to be less enthusiastic about the camera performance. Overall, I think this is an impressive device, and if camera performance is important to you, then based on Paul's impressions this may be a phone to put high on your evaluation list.

Windows Phone 7 Profile: the Samsung Omnia 7

Posted by Jason Dunn in "Samsung Windows Phones" @ 01:27 PM

http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/...one/glance.aspx

"With a 4.0" SUPER AMOLED display and thin, light design the Samsung Omnia 7 is great for gaming with Xbox LIVE, listening to Zune music and watching videos."

OK Samsung, you have me baffled. The specs on the Omnia 7 are virtually identical to the Samsung Focus...yet the exterior design of the casing would seem to target a different sort of market. Any insights here? Maybe one is a North American market device, and one is for Europe/Asia?

  • 4.0", 480x800 Super AMOLED screen
  • 4.82" x 2.53" x 0.43" 119g
  • 512MB RAM/1GB Flash/8GB internal storage
  • Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD 8250 1 GHz
  • Battery life - Talk time: 3 hrs/Standby: 250 hrs
  • 5MP camera/720p HD video

UPDATE: It looks like the Samsung Focus is coming to North America via AT&T, while the Samsung Omnia 7 is coming to Europe.
