SnapCrowd Provides Effective Cloud Storage

Posted by Brad Wasson in "Windows Phone Talk" @ 05:00 PM

http://www.wp7connect.com/2012/04/1...ic-videos-docs/

"SnapCrowd is the most advanced DAM (Digital Asset Management) platform on the market and we plan to keep it that way. Whether we like it or not our lives are now digital in some way or another, so why not keep it simple and secure. At SnapCrowd a user can store photos, video, documents, audio and even contacts, all in their original form protected behind SSL / TLS and HTTPS protocol layers."

Cloud storage has hit mainstream, and in the past week or two you may have noticed a number of reviews of Google Drive, Microsoft SkyDrive, Dropbox, and Apple iCloud. These services offer a number of unique and competitive features, and are worth checking into. I would definitely add SnapCrowd to your list though. It has a some compelling features and very competitive pricing, and may just facilitate your computing and mobile life in ways you might not expect.

The SnapCrowd developers state they allow larger file upload sizes than their competition, like 200 MB for photos, 4 GB for video, audio and documents, and allow RAW files from all the major camera manufactures. Their proprietary user interface allows all user functions even while uploading files. What's more, if for any reason your file gets interrupted in the upload process, you can just log back into your account and queue the file back up and it will continue where it left off.

The SnapCrowd WP7 app looks well designed and is very functional (see the demo on the linked page). The user-interface directly guides you to manage specific file types (like documents, music, photos and video). Meta data about your files is clearly presented, and interactions seem very straight-forward. Hit the Read link for additional information and a demo of how the WP7 app works.

Watermark Your Photos Before Posting Online

Posted by Brad Wasson in "Windows Phone Talk" @ 04:30 PM

http://www.wpcentral.com/watermark-...rts+(wpcentral)

"The one danger of posting your photographs online, be it Facebook, Twitter, or elsewhere, is the risk you run of having your pics hijacked. Watermarks are one way to help deter unauthorized use of your photos. The Windows Phone app, "Watermark" brings watermarking to photos captured and stored in your Pictures Hub and may just keep the pirates at bay."

This straightforward app can be used to watermark or caption your photos before you post them online. Not only is this a good idea in many circumstances, but the cost lowers one barrier from you doing it: it's free! The Read link provides more details.

Hipstar: Vintage Camera Effects App

Posted by Nurhisham Hussein in "Windows Phone Software" @ 09:00 AM

"Now any image you take with your Windows Mobile 7 Phone can look like it was taken with a vintage camera. Light leak and vignette effects add depth and dimension, and color filters alter the mood of any photo!"

Photo "enhancing" programs have been around on mobile phones since onboard cameras started getting good enough to actually take decent pictures, maybe about 5-6 years ago. MobileMatiq's unique take on this with Hipstar is to allow you to "age" your photographs, so they'll look like you took them in the 1970s...or even further back. I used to be a huge WWII history buff, and some of the Hipstar samples look pretty convincing to me. Hipstar is available for $1.99 through the WP7 Marketplace.

Taking Pictures of Fireworks

Posted by Ed Hansberry in "Thoughts Media Off Topic" @ 08:57 AM

http://lifehacker.com/397649/get-be...-fourth-of-july

For those of us living in the US today is Independence Day, the official birth of our country. We celebrate by lighting fires and burning stuff all day long. It begins at the grill where hot dogs, hamburgers and whatever else you want are thrown onto an open flame and end at night where we light enough gunpowder to wake the dead.

Boom!

I figured anyone in the US reading this site also has a camera and more than a few of us could use a few pointers to make sure that when we take pictures we get more than just some hazy smoke or a blur of flashing streaks across the image. Lifehacker has a few tips in the link below that will make your picture taking result in a better photo gallery. Once done, post links to your favorite shots from your Flickr, Smugmug or whatever online gallery you use for your images.

And Happy 4th of July!

Photoshop.com Going Mobile in September

Posted by Darius Wey in "Pocket PC Software" @ 05:50 AM

http://www.adobe.com/products/pscom/mobile/

"Adobe® Photoshop.com Mobile is the easiest way to upload, view, and share your photos online from your phone. All you need is a supported Windows Mobile phone and your Photoshop.com account ID. Photoshop.com Mobile beta will be available as a free download in September."

Adobe claims that Photoshop.com Mobile will only support the MOTO Q, Blackjack, and Treo 700/750 series, although we're willing to bet most other Windows Mobile devices will handle it just fine as long as Flash is installed. At any rate, we'll let you know the moment it's available.
