Fix For Lumia 900 On The Way

Posted by Nurhisham Hussein in "Nokia Windows Phones" @ 11:00 PM

http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/news...data-glitch.ars

"Some Nokia Lumia 900 customers have been experiencing a loss of data connectivity-both LTE and 3G-on their new handsets. Nokia has identified the problem and devised a software fix, which will be rolled out on or around April 16th. Customers not wanting to wait can have their phones swapped for updated versions in AT&T stores. The company will also give any AT&T customer buying a Lumia between now and April 21 a $100 credit on their next bill."

At the price AT&T are retailing the Lumia for (with contract), that $100 credit means you're effectively getting the Lumia for free. If you aren't afraid of hooking up with AT&T, that's a pretty good deal for what looks like one of the better Windows Phone 7 devices out there. And kudos to Nokia for the fast turnaround.

Nokia Lumia 900 Pre-orders Now Possible In Canada

Posted by Brad Wasson in "Windows Phone Talk" @ 02:00 PM

http://www.rogers.com/web/content/l...en-0212-_-slot3

"Rogers in Canada is taking pre-orders now for the Nokia Lumia 900! For those here in Canada who have been waiting for the providers to finally move into the next generation of WP7 phones, here's your chance. No word on pricing yet, but Rogers is talking about availability in mid-April."

Although I have not seen one of this handsets in person, I have certainly read about them and can believe that they are beautiful devices. With Rogers in Canada now taking pre-orders the wait to actually try one won't be too long. The Source link below has the details about the pre-order.

*UPDATED* Nokia Lumia 900 Scheduled For April Release

Posted by Richard Chao in "Nokia Windows Phones" @ 05:30 PM

http://www.wpcentral.com/microsofts...?style_mobile=0

*Update* Turns out WPCentral is reporting there are two Joes and the one mention below is not the one from Microsoft.

"While we just posted about the TITAN II's no show and we're still unsure about the Lumia 900, evidently Microsoft Corporate VP of Windows Phone, Joe Belfiore knows what's going on."

WPCentral is reporting Joe Belfiore has confirmed the Nokia Lumia 900 is scheduled for release on the AT&T network probably in April. So this should put to rest any rumors of a March release. Not mentioned was the reason for April or a firm date.

http://www.theverge.com/2012/2/2/27...-store-preorder

"We reached out to Microsoft, and it confirmed that $25 will secure Nokia's latest Windows Phone handset for you, but there wasn't any new info on how much the phone will cost in full when launch day comes around."

Microsoft's Brick and Mortar Stores are now taking pre-orders for the Nokia Lumia 900. The 900 is one of two LTE capable WP7.5 phones being released by AT&T on March 18th. The other being the HTC Titan II.

If you want to pre-order the 900, grab $25.00 and head to your local Microsoft Store.

Nokia Chargers Power Up

Posted by Nurhisham Hussein in "Nokia Windows Phones" @ 01:00 AM

http://www.wpcentral.com/nokia-char...s-phones-faster

"While it's been confirmed by Nokia already, the team over at WeLoveWP.hk have run some tests on charging the Lumia Windows Phone with a number of options. Turns out...the Nokia Lumia adapters provided more charge for a faster rate of recharge."

I'm not sure a "faster" charger is that much of an advantage, as bearing in mind my rudimentary knowledge of battery technology, fast charging like this tends to stress the battery more while also generating more heat. You might be trading off faster charging against a shorter battery lifespan. Of course, if you're in the habit of buying an extra battery or two, or changing phones every couple of years, that might not matter much. The nice thing though is that since the Lumia models will charge off a standard USB port, the decision is yours.

Lumia 900 With Improvements May Be Coming Mid-2012

Posted by Richard Chao in "Nokia Windows Phones" @ 10:16 AM

http://www.winsupersite.com/blog/su...-mid2012-141907

"But according to my source, it is indeed temporary. And other carriers will be able to sell the device 45 days after AT&T's launch date of March 18."

Paul Thurrott via his winsupersite blog is citing a rival to AT&T source that has given him some new information on the availability of the Nokia Lumia 900. Supposedly, AT&T's exclusivity on the Lumia 900 will expire in 45 days at which time Nokia will make an improved Lumia 900 with a 12MP camera available to other carriers.

Remember, this rumor is unconfirmed and comes from an AT&T rival.

It's a fairly long interview, but what you get is some insight into Nokia's plans for entering the US market and the design process for the Lumia 900. Enjoy!

http://pocketnow.com/windows-phone/...(pocketnow.com)

"GeekTechBlog might not ring any bells but they are claiming a Nokia Lumia 900 hands-on -- sans pictures though -- courtesy of a "Nokia source"."

GeekTechBlog has allegedly been allowed some hands on time with the up coming Nokia Lumia 900. The Lumia 900 is rumored to come with a 4.3-inch WVGA Clear Black screen, the Lumia 800's 1.4GHz processor, an improved eight-megapixel camera and Tango instead of Mango. The body is similar in style to the Lumia 800 except with a 4.3 inch screen. Still unknown is whether a front facing camera is part of the package or not.
