Mysterious Mio Explora K85 Makes an Appearance

Mio has a couple of devices up its sleeve. First up, there's the Explora K70/K75 (translated version), which you've probably seen before. The Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional device features the ubiquitous MSM7201A 528MHz processor, 256MB RAM, 256MB ROM, quad-band GSM/EDGE, tri-band HSDPA/HSUPA, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, a 3.0-megapixel camera, and a microSDHC slot. Granted, it's nothing exciting.

The Mio Explora K85 (translated version), on the other hand, is a tad more interesting. Jump the break for a look.

The Mio Explora K70

Posted by Nurhisham Hussein in "Pocket PC Hardware" @ 11:00 PM

"Mio made it known late last year that the company was cooking up a mobile handset and it appears as though the Taiwanese GPS company's entrance into the mobile game will indeed be a sexy one."

Mio are better known for their DigiWalker series of GPS-equipped handhelds and this is, AFAIK, their first foray into making a phone. It's really not bad for a first effort, with the ubiquitous Qualcomm MSM7201A 528MHz processor, quadband GSM, tri-band HSPA, GPS (of course!), and 3MP camera. The device has a 3.5" QWVGA screen, which is passably large enough for GPS usage, and a slot that accepts micro-SDHC cards for all your maps. No word yet on pricing or availability.

Mio Leaps Into Windows Mobile 6.1 Territory with the G50

More mayhem at Computex - this time, courtesy of Mio (shocking English translation). They've just introduced the Leap G50. It doesn't exactly offer earth-shattering specs, but it should suffice for the casual user. Inside, there's a 400MHz processor, quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, Bluetooth, possibly Wi-Fi (still needs confirmation), GPS, and a 2.0-megapixel camera, all running on Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional. There's also Spb Mobile Shell 2.0, MioMap 2008, and geotagging support as added extras. Fingerprints, too.
