Microsoft WP7 Update News For May 3rd

Posted by Richard Chao in "Windows Phone Software" @ 09:25 PM

http://windowsteamblog.com/windows_...pdate-news.aspx

"Hi everyone. Today we started delivering the February and March updates to the HTC Surround on AT&T and to customers of Deutsche Telekom in Europe."

According to the latest Microsoft blog about the NoDo update, the update is now being pushed to the AT&T HTC Surround and customers of Deutsche Telekom. Optus and Telstra customers in Australia are also being pushed the NoDo update. On the bad news side, the update push process has been halted for Samsung Omnia 7 owners. Also, some AT&T Samsung Focus owners may see a delay in their notification depending on who makes their flash memory chip.

Also reported is the 7392 update. This is a security update to address the SSL certificate issue related to the Comodo security breach.

If a good audio experience is high on your list of features to have with your phone, the HTC Surround should certainly be on your short list.

AnandTech has a full review of the device. Check it out and see if the device AnandTech calls a "pocket boombox" is worthy of your money.

AT&T Offering A Two For One Holiday Deal

Posted by Nurhisham Hussein in "Windows Phone Mobile Operators" @ 06:00 PM

http://windowsteamblog.com/windows_...deal-alert.aspx

"AT&T just sweetened the pot a bit for the holiday shopping season with the announcement of a buy one get one free deal for the HTC Surround, LG Quantum and Samsung Focus. To take advantage of this offer head down to your local AT&T retail store, sign up for a two-year contract and you and a friend will have a couple of the coolest phones of the season."

I've got mixed feelings about this - on the one hand this sounds like a great deal, but on the other hand, AT&T is trying to clear stock already? Really? But if you're interested, dropping by an AT&T store and have a look.

Surrounding the Surround With Reviews!

Posted by Jon Westfall in "HTC Windows Phones" @ 07:30 PM

http://www.engadget.com/2010/10/20/...urround-review/

"Of all the Windows Phone 7 launch devices, AT&T's HTC Surround is likely the most curious. It's a landscape slider built on the same basic internals as the rest of its platform siblings, but there's no keyboard under that screen -- the quarter-inch slide reveals an aluminum speaker bar and integrated kickstand, which combine to create a tiny little stereo system of sorts. Mix in Windows Phone 7's heavy Zune integration, add in a dash of Dolby Mobile and SRS Wow "virtual surround" audio processing, and top it all off with 16GB of internal memory, and you have what might be the ultimate phone for on-the-go media consumption. But does the Surround live up to all that promise? Read on to find out!"

News abounds on the HTC Surround, this cute little package that makes sound it's claim to fame. Engadget has it covered, so does PCMag, Phone Scoop, and Adam over at Pocketnow! So if you're interested in getting some serious audio enjoyment out of a device, take a look at any or all of these to get the first impressions of this unique Windows Phone 7 device!
