WMExperts Reviews iPAQ Glisten

Posted by Jon Westfall in "HP Windows Phones" @ 04:30 AM

"HP has produced several Windows Mobile products over the years. From the iPAQ and Jornada PDA's to the iPAQ Windows Mobile phones they have created a bit of history with the Microsoft operating system. HP hopes to continue its strong history with Windows Mobile with the Glisten Announced a few weeks ago, the Glisten is a front-facing QWERTY keyboard, touch screen Windows phone is available through AT&T as well as directly from HP. We had an opportunity to take a pre-production model of the Glisten out for a test drive and found it to a nice phone."

WMExperts has taken a look at the latest iPAQ offering and in the end they like it! For a pretty exhaustive write-up and some nice pictures, take a look at their review!

HP Lets iPAQ Glisten Out of the Box

Posted by Pete Paxton in "Windows Phone News" @ 07:00 AM

"The AT&T-bound iPAQ Glisten from HP has been unboxed for our viewing pleasure, video of which can be found immediately after the break. If you're not in such a hurry though, you'll want to know it's an AMOLED-fronted, Qualcomm-powered (533MHz) WinMo 6.5 device, which brings the BlackBerry form factor sans the RIM user experience, but plus a touchscreen. Another thing to note is that AT&T's online store will be the only place to get it, at the already announced $179.99 after rebates on a two-year deal. The video does a good job of comparing HP's return to the mobile space with a pair of similar devices, and we're left with the impression that it's a pretty chunky machine, but as usual we recommend seeing it for yourself -- and you already know where to find it."

I wonder how well the Glisten will do? Looks a ton like the Curve but I'm not sure if that's enough to convince people to buy it. Blackberry lovers seem to like their Blackberries because well - because they're Blackberries. Is a look alike with Windows Mobile 6.5 enough to perk interest? Will the touch screen on this form factor as well as beautiful screen be enough to shell out $180 for? My thought is that I probably won't be seeing these in the hands of most. What do you all think? Does it stand a chance or is it already on its way out the door?

AT&T and HP Announce iPAQ Glisten

Posted by Jon Westfall in "HP Windows Phones" @ 06:30 AM

"The new HP iPAQ Glisten smartphone is a productivity powerhouse exclusively from AT&T. With its simple yet superior design, the iPAQ Glisten lets you view email, Web pages, and documents clearly from any angle on the active-matrix organic light-emitting diode (AMOLED) resistive-touch display that offers vivid colors, true black, and outdoor readability with fast-touch response and better battery performance. Durability begins with the attractive, thin design and jewel-like front. Its soft-touch finish resists scratches."

Another year, another iPAQ. Hopefully this one will be released in a timely fashion. Given HP's track record though, I'd expect this 6.5 device to hit just about the time Windows Mobile 7.5 is announced. Sorry HP - I guess I just have bad memories!
