Mystery HP PDA at FCC
Posted by Nurhisham Hussein in "HARDWARE" @ 04:00 PM
"Not too many details on this one just yet, but it appears that Hon Hai has applied for FCC certification on a mysterious HP handheld. The PDA, which touts a model number of HSTNH-F16C, offers up Bluetooth 2.0+EDR and WiFi (802.11b/g) capabilities, USB 2.0 connectivity, and apparently comes with a lovely slip case (pictured) 'to protect it from scraping.'"
What's interesting about this report - not that there's much to it - is the revelation that Hon Hai is developing this PDA for HP. If you've never heard of them before, Hon Hai are a huge Taiwanese ODM/OEM contractor for companies such as Dell, HP, and Apple, and are better known by their trade name of Foxconn. They've supplied parts to HTC before for previous iPaq models like the h2210 and appear to be HP's ODM partner for the latest iPaqs - you can even buy parts direct. Hopefully, with FCC cetification under way, you'll see the new line of iPaqs that we reported on before for the Christmas shopping season.
