VITO Technology releases VITO AstroNavigator II

"VITO Technology releases VITO AstroNavigator II, the GPS application that displays the sky map above you according to your current position, time and direction of movement. It is high time to break away from all the high-tech around and watch the night sky! With new VITO AstroNavigator II you can literally reach out and touch the sky. Just slide with a finger to rotate the screen and see a star, a planet, or a constellation. Tap one of them to read a wealth of information about any celestial body."
As I looked at VITO's latest release, I couldn't help but think about the book I just read, Carry On, Mr. Bowditch (affiliate link), which tells the true story of a somewhat obscure figure in maritime history, Nathaniel Bowditch who was a math wiz and figured out a way to calculate a position at sea at night by considering the position of the moon in relation to 3 stars, rather than waiting for the moon to occult a star. Honestly, much of it was above my head, but I just imagine what Bowditch and others would have done to have the tools we have today. Me? I'd still get lost, but at least I'd be able to figure out a constellation or two and enjoy the ride!
