"Softbank Mobile is likely to be the first Japanese mobile operator to launch Windows Mobile 6-based PDA phones for the local market in Japan, starting in the second quarter of 2007, according to market sources. Softbank Mobile's planned lunch of the Windows Mobile 6-based PDA phones will include one Toshiba model, the G900, and another model from Taiwan-based High Tech Computer (HTC), which has yet to name the model, the sources noted."
Japan, which was a relatively quiet spot for Windows Mobile many moons ago, seems to have taken a dramatic turnaround as of late. According to market sources, SoftBank Mobile has plans to launch a series of popular Windows Mobile 6 phones (including the well-known Toshiba Portege G900) in the second quarter of 2007. Meanwhile, there are many carriers outside of Japan that have yet to make any sort of Windows Mobile 6-related announcement. Ah, isn't the waiting game fun? :(
