Solar Panel Charger for Mobile Devices

"NTT DoCoMo is developing a new type of portable solar panel to charge their FOMA phone. Unlike normal flat solar panel surface, the prototype use spherical silicon material which is able to reduce the material cost and increase efficiency. The solar panel is light weight and will give a flexibility of its shape. Their first prototype is now displayed on the Eco Style Fair tradeshow in Japan."
Considering current day battery technologies are ho-hum at best, I'm all for solar charging as a means to keeping my mobile device juiced up, but only if the panel is smaller and shaped a lot less like Toad. There's no word yet on a drop date, but we'll keep our eyes and ears open and feed you the information the moment it heads our way.
