O2 Asia Pacific Preparing Four New 3G Handsets

"O2 Asia Pacific, a member of the O2 Group, will focus on marketing 3G handsets in 2007, with four 3G PDA phones to be launched in the first quarter of next year, according to Lawrence Lee, president for Taiwan and Hong Kong at O2 Asia. Although the four models will target different market segments, all of them will be manufactured by Taiwan OEM handset makers, including Quanta Computer, Asustek Computer and Arima Communications, said market sources."
HTC's decision to sell its own devices and forge exclusive partnerships with a small minority of partners has opened the door for other manufacturers to find partners of their own and get serious about getting their stuff out there. With these manufacturers now helping O2 deliver four new 3G-enabled Pocket PC Phones in Q1 2007, we're in for an exciting ride over the coming months.
