It would seem that some of the HTC Hermes family of PDAs have erratic touchscreens, displaying imprecise digitizer behavior. Larry received one such device at Mobius…"
I've been hearing about this issue for some time now, which seems to have afflicted certain early batches of the Hermes. The cause of the problem was never discovered...until now. It turns out that the touch-sensitive part of the LCD extends below the front bezel, and a strip of rubber/sponge under the bezel rests directly on the screen - result: the OS thinks there's constant pressure at that point, which leads to obvious weirdness when using the touchscreen. You can reference the instructions on how to fix this yourself at this link. BE WARNED: Doing this yourself will void your warranty. If you do have this problem, I'd encourage you to send in your device for repair or exchange your device if you can, as HTC appears to have fixed the problem with later batches of the Hermes.
