Tripod Data Systems Launches TDS Recon X-Series Rugged Pocket PC

"Tripod Data Systems (TDS) today announced the next generation of its popular TDS Recon® rugged handheld computer. The new Recon X-Series gives users the option of integrated Bluetooth and 802.11g wireless capabilities, and it comes with Windows Mobile® 5.0, the latest version of Microsoft's software for handheld devices... Like the original, the Recon X-Series meets the MIL-STD-810F military standard for drops, vibration and temperature extremes. It also has an IP67 rating, meaning it's impervious to water and dust."
Ruggedized PDAs fulfill a niche market demand for field workers who work in physically demanding conditions. TDS provides two models: one sports a 200MHz Intel XScale processor with 128MB of flash memory while their higher-end model sports a 400MHz processor nicely coupled with 256MB of flash memory. Both models include WiFi / Bluetooth connectivity as well as twin CompactFlash slots, typically needed for digital cameras, barcode scanners, etc. Prices were not specified but considering it's a ruggedized PDA with beefy specifications, I wouldn't expect this to be cheap.
