TechNewsWorld: Smartphone Software Market Heating Up

"PC users are rarely satisfied with just the OS and the standard office applications like word processing, spreadsheets and e-mail. They usually end up buying and installing a large number of additional applications. Smartphone users find themselves in the same situation now."
I couldn't agree more with the article except with the disclaimer that I believe the term "Smartphone" should include both the standard smartphones as well as the phone-enabled PDAs (ie - Pocket PC Phone Editions). In my office, I'm seeing increased demand for both types of devices with the overriding goal of having the converged phone and PDA capabilities integrated with their enterprise messaging infrastructure. At one time, the majority of my colleagues viewed Pocket PCs as being more than they wanted and needed, but with more people asking for and moving to the Windows Mobile devices, their expectations and demands grow as well.
