Some Updates on Future Fujitsu-Siemens Devices
Posted by Darius Wey in "NEWS" @ 08:15 PM
As a follow-up to the news post on the rumoured Pocket LOOX N560, we have more updates, thanks to Pocket PC Thoughts reader, Faenad, who was at the Mobile Office Trade Fair in Paris.
According to Faenad, confirmation came direct from the Fujitsu-Siemens Product Manager that the N560 was definitely in the making and will feature a VGA screen and GPS (courtesy of the SiRFstar III; external antenna support will also be present). It will also feature the same form factor as the N520 (meaning there would be no support for CompactFlash, unlike the Dell Axim X50/X51 series). An official specs sheet wasn't able to be obtained, but based on earlier rumours, this device will include a 624MHz processor, 64MB RAM, 256MB ROM, Bluetooth, 802.11g Wi-Fi, USB-Host, and an Intel 2700g GPU with VGA-out. It's set to be released sometime in February, 2006, with the cost likely to hover around the €600 mark.
In other news, the Pocket LOOX 720 will continue to sell until June, 2006, with no replacement being planned at this stage. However, a separate 700 series device is in the making, designed to be a Pocket PC Phone Edition with a VGA screen (planned for release in June, 2006).
