"VODAFONE Australia has today launched its 3G mobile phone network, offering customers the latest mobile phones, music, mobile television and video calling services. Vodafone Australia chief executive Russell Hewitt said the company had launched 3G networks throughout the world. "We are the 17th Vodafone operating company to launch 3G, which gives us great insight into what customers really want," Mr Hewitt said."
Vodafone Australia has just launched its 3G network, making it the third major public 3G operator in Australia alongside Telstra and Hutchinson Telecom (Three). The service is available in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra, as well as airports in all of Australia's major centres. A rollout in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide is scheduled for early next year. Optus, who partnered with Vodafone in establishing the network, is expected to launch its 3G service before Christmas.
