Audiovox To Rebrand As UT Starcom?
Posted by Janak Parekh in "NEWS" @ 07:00 AM
"UT Starcom today unveiled a new logo with the intent of making their brand known in the US. Although they purchased Audiovox some time ago, UT Starcom has continued to market devices in the US under the Audiovox name or as carrier-branded models. Like Pantech and BenQ, UT Starcom hopes to extend their brand recognition beyond Asia and into North America."
Just a heads-up for those of you who are buying Audiovox Pocket PCs. While the current generation is unlikely to change, we might see "UT Starcom"-based Pocket PC Phones soon. (Semi-offtopic: Who invented that name, anyway? I'm dreading "UT Starcom PPC-21000 Windows Mobile 5 for Pocket PC Phone Edition" or somesuch one day. Windows Mobile device branding is perhaps the biggest problem with marketing or supporting these devices right now.)
