6th Sense Social Networking Software
Posted by Jonathon Watkins in "SOFTWARE" @ 05:00 PM
"6th Sense Communications Inc. is introducing 6th Sense, a mobile personal networking service for users to find people in the local proximity that they might want to meet. . . [A] user can create multiple electronic profiles, each comprising of personal or professional characteristics, which are then used to meet other users. When activated on a mobile phone, 6th Sense scans the local surroundings to find other users with similar profiles. Users are notified of potential matches, and can preview matched profiles on their mobile phone as a precursor to a face-to-face meeting."
This software seems like a reasonable solution to meeting people with similar interested in controlled situations (conferences etc.). However, I rather suspect that the Bluetooth LED on your Pocket PC is going to be blinking away fruitlessly to itself for most of the time outside such environments. I doubt there will be enough people using this software to make it worthwhile to run all the time as suggested. Still, it's worth a look if you want to set up some spontaneous mobile meetings. The Sixsense website can be found here. So how many of you guys could see yourselves installing software like this and what would you use it for?
