Toppoly Announces Integrated 3.5" SOP LTPS TFT-LCD for PDAs

"Ahead of the competition, Toppoly has today announced its breakthrough in SOP (System-On-Panel) technology by successfully developing the first complete IC integrated 3.5-inch SOP LTPS TFT-LCD panel/module in Taiwan, which integrates scan and data drivers, DC-DC converter, DA converter, timing-controller, an interface circuit. It not only marks a milestone in Taiwan’s FPD industry, but is also the first LTPS TFT-LCD module designed for PDA featured full-IC-integrated SOP technology worldwide. Toppoly’s 3.5-inch Full SOP LTPS TFT-LCD module is designed for the PDAs with high quality displays, it has a resolution of 240xRGBx320 at 262K colors display. The mass production is scheduled to start in Q1 of 2006."
I'm hoping 2006 will be the year when we see more PDAs sporting brighter, clearer, and more colourful screens. Toppoly's recent press release certainly suggests that.
