Boating Made Geeky with Pocket Repeater
Posted by Darius Wey in "SOFTWARE" @ 11:00 AM
"Pocket Repeater turns your Palm or Pocket PC handheld computer into a wireless, mobile multi-instrument repeater giving you access to your boat's data whenever and wherever you want it. Pocket Repeater displays position, speed, depth, trip, wind and navigational information on your PDA as well as providing depth and anchor alarms and a Man Over Board (MOB) safety function that stores the MOB position and helps you return to the casualty."
A friend and I used to do a bit of boating a few years ago, and having now seen this product, it's definitely something I would have loved to have used back then. If you use Shipmodul's MiniPlex-4xBT NMEA multiplexer, then Pocket Repeater integrates with it very nicely - taking inputs from your existing instruments and retransmitting that information via Bluetooth.
