The Claviature Ergonomic Keyboard: Pressing the Right Buttons?
Posted by Pat Logsdon in "SOFTWARE" @ 08:30 PM
"The Claviature Ergonomic Layouts provides a key arrangement optimized for on-screen keyboards and pen input in different languages. They are computer designed to minimize input time using Fitt's law describing efficiency of keyboard depending on letter pair frequencies in different languages and distances between them. Advanced mathematical methods were used to calculate optimal keyboard layouts. Version 1.2 of Claviature for Pocket PC [includes] more than 80 national layouts - more than any other SIP. [The] main feature of version 1.2 is support of Ergonomic Layouts for English, Sapnish, German, French and Italian languages."
Advanced mathematical methods? Like, algorithms and stuff? Sweet. Unfortunately, it looks like the marriage of science and design is going as well as it usually does. I'm not in a position to judge the functionality of this SIP, so I'll have to ask YOU, dear reader, to weigh in with your opinion. Speak up if you've used this, or even if you just have an opinion. Will the PMYLDX key layout take the world by storm? Oh, and it's only $14.95 at Handango. [Affiliate] That is all.
