BenQ P50 Gets UMA

One of devices that will have a tough time to live up to the hype that has been building up since they were first sighted is the BenQ P50. And we can add something to that hype now: the BenQ P50 will have UMA functionality. What is that, you say? According to the UMA Technology website:

" Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA) technology provides access to GSM and GPRS mobile services over unlicensed spectrum technologies, including Bluetooth and 802.11. By deploying UMA technology, service providers can enable subscribers to roam and handover between cellular networks and public and private unlicensed wireless networks using dual-mode mobile handsets. With UMA, subscribers receive a consistent user experience for their mobile voice and data services as they transition between networks." So envision completely transparant roaming and handovers between your GSM/GPRS and wireless networks. Now all I want is the BenQ P50 in my hands, for a reasonable price.
