Seems someone at MS in Germany has let slip a few details on Magneto, otherwise known as Windows Mobile 2005. There is a 4MB Powerpoint file but it is in German, so I can only speculate what some of the lines mean. Some of the more obvious things though include:
• ActiveSync 4.0.
• Persistent Memory Store for the Pocket PC - this is the same thing Smartphone has now. That means when your battery dies, your data doesn't.
• Direct 3D (think games!)
• APIs for GPS and Cameras built in
• Dr. Watson support
• Core OS based on Windows CE 5
Pocket Word
Pocket Word seems to have received a face lift too. Looks like tables and more sophisticated bullet/numbering are supported. There appears to be indent/outdent icons on the toolbar. Not sure about the menu at the bottom though. It looks like the two menu buttons from the SmartPhone OS.
