GPS Tuner "All in One" GPS Software
Posted by Pat Logsdon in "SOFTWARE" @ 08:00 AM
"GPS Tuner is a high precision measurement, mapping and geocaching tool for Pocket PC. You are able to record high precision waypoints (even sub-meter) thanks to the averaging technique. GPS Tuner provides flexible management of waypoints, geocaching files, tracks and routes. GIF, JPG, PNG or BMP files can be used as maps, you need only two positions for calibrating. With Digital Compass you can easily navigate to a waypoint or walk along a route."
I have to say that this application has one of the nicest interfaces I've ever seen for a Pocket PC application. It's not just a pretty face, though - there are quite a few innovative features as well. After trying out the demo, here are a few of my favorites:
• US TerraServer integration (works over WiFi or GPRS)
• Make and calibrate your own maps
• NMEA logging and playback in real time
• Full GPS compatibility, including import and export functionality
• "3D" map capability (really just a "tilt", but still cool")
• GPS Share™: Share your current position with other GPS Share users
Honestly, this is pants-wetting stuff for a GPS and geocaching geek like me. Anyone else find this enticing?
