World-Size Eye Candy

If you're like me (and I wouldn't admit to it even if it IS true), you're constantly saying things to yourself like, "Gee, I wish I knew what the sun's azimuth and elevation are in Kuala Lumpur right now" or "Gee, I wish I knew what the latitude, longitude and antipode are for my exact current location are." And, if you really DO say these things, you need to do one of two things:
1) Get a life
2) Get Pocket Earth from Blue Point Studio
Pocket Earth is one of those programs that is just chock-full of information and views. It provides all kinds of geographic-related data, from locating a very specific location on the globe to visualizing exactly when nightfall will come for that very specific location. And, it delivers this information in the most colorful, imaginative and captivating manner I've ever seen.
On the other hand, unless you're a mapping maven or geographic guru I have a difficult time imagining what the practical uses of this kind of program are. Still, it is kind of fun poking around Pocket Earth's many views, just to see what you can see. So, I like the free demo; if you're really serious about all of this stuff, you'll have to pay $19.95 for the full version, which you can get from the Handango site.
