On the lookout for a cheap Pocket PC with GPS, but don't want a lesser known brand or one from a supermarket?

If so, have you considered Dell? I spotted the other day that they were selling the X5 with bundled TomTom Navigator 3 hardware and software for £317 as a special offer untill the 30th of June.

We previously posted about a review of TomTom Navigator USA Bluetooth GPS system, which looked very good indeed.

Specifications for TomTom Navigator 3 include:
    • Box delivered with navigation software, TomTom GPS-receiver, map of Great Britain, car kit. Additional collection of maps over more countries in Western Europe is sold separately.
    • Door-to-door navigation using house numbers
    • Major Roads of Europe inluded; for cross-border route planning in 15 West European countries.
    • Stopovers; go from A to B via C.... make as many stops as you want.
    • A 'roadblock' feature allowing instant re-planning around any unexpected obstacles you encounter on your journey, such as traffic congestion and roadworks;
    • The option of a vivid three-dimensional view of your journey - with clearly defined landmarks and landscapes - to help you get your bearings;
    • A special low-glare night display to prevent dazzle from the screen in low light or dark conditions
    • Large finger-touch on-screen icons and keyboard for ultra-easy operation
    • A huge store of Points-of-Interest providing location and contact details on a wide range of useful places like petrol stations, car parks, restaurants, hotels and cinemas.

This looks like a pretty decent deal if you're looking to add a GPS system to your armoury. Especially as TomTom Navigator 3 wired GPS usully sells for around £165 on it's own. Do remember though, that the X5 runs PPC2003, not PPC200SE, with no current upgrade prospects as we previously reported. Not that I'm keeping track or anything. ;-)
