SanDisk Introduces Extreme CF & SD Cards
Posted by Jason Dunn in "NEWS" @ 12:00 PM
"SanDisk Corporation (NASDAQ: SNDK) today introduced the SanDisk Extreme(tm) CompactFlash® and SD line of high performance, high durability digital film cards designed for professional photographers who demand the highest levels of reliability and performance under extreme conditions. The SanDisk Extreme cards deliver a minimum write speed of 9 megabytes per second (MB/sec.) and a minimum read speed of 10MB/sec. throughout their extended operating temperature range, making these the fastest flash memory cards in the world*. These exceptionally fast write and read speeds are critical when shooting large numbers of high resolution images and transferring the images to a computer. SanDisk Extreme cards are exclusive to photo retailers in the North American market."
Although it's not meant for Pocket PC use, it's always nice to see improvements in the world of SD and CF. And, if you can believe it, these high performance actually result in faster read/write speeds on the Pocket PC. I was always convinced that the Pocket PC was the bottleneck in the equation, but after running Spb Benchmark on a high-speed Sandisk CF card that I have, it actually made a difference! I really need to publish those results some time. :D
