An interview with Jason Gordon of the MS Mobile Devices Division
Posted by Jason Dunn in "ARTICLE" @ 12:00 PM
"I met with some Microsoft people yesterday to chat about a powerful software application that is in the beta stages, and Joel was kind enough to help me get a time slot with Jason Gordon, Microsoft Product Manager for Mobile Devices. I met Jason and Shira, PR rep from Waggener Edstrom, at the Zeitgeist coffee shop in Seattle and had a chance to chat with Jason for a couple hours. It was funny to find out that Jason grew up less than 10 miles from me in Western Washington and spent time on the same lake I did during my summers. We spent a bit of time reminiscing about the local area, our background, and our wives' lack of desire to embrace mobile technology before Shira reminded us to get back on track.
Jason then talked about Microsoft and the Mobile Devices Division's past and philosophy. I am not a developer, but I found it very interesting how much support Microsoft seems to provide to developers who are creating applications for the Windows Mobile platform. MS provides SDKs and development software, conferences, and the Mobile2Market program. The Mobile2Market program is designed to help developers and mobile operators get together to create and implement applications for Pocket PC and Smartphone devices."
