I recently learned about Crypto-Sign which implements a signature verification technology. Check it out! How do you encrypt the information stored in and communicated with your Pocket PC? What third party security solution do you rely on every day? It would be very interesting to learn about what solutions, mostly in companies presumably, are really used out there!
"Crypto-Sign(TM) is an innovative, patent-pending approach to signature verification technology. It is a software-based, low cost, easy to use, non-invasive biometric which relies upon a secret sign submitted on a PDA (wired or wireless) or a standard digitizer, to address the problem of remote authentication. In this regard it is more secure than traditional signature verification systems - relying upon a secret sign submitted with no inking, as opposed to an openly available displayed signature. It combines the advantages of signature verification with those of the password/PIN and eliminates the insecurity and inconvenience of the password. It can provide the security of an eight character (or more), case-sensitive password without the need to enter it on the PDA or remember it. Thus it is both more convenient and more secure than the password. PDA-Protect(TM), a Crypto-Sign product has been developed for the Pocket PC and has been beta tested by Microsoft. It interrupts the password request sequence to require the secret sign to be submitted on the device."
PDA-Protect™ incorporates the following feature set:
• Secret “Sign” Biometric Verification
• Fast, Low Cost, Non Invasive
• Sandia Laboratories Tested Algorithms
• Protects PDA Data
• Remote Authentication
• Enterprise Security
• Government Applications
• TSI’s first Crypto-Sign product, PDA-Protect™ interrupts the password request process to demand a secret sign.
