An Easy Way to Keep Up With Conversations
Posted by Jason Dunn in "UPDATE" @ 01:31 PM
The single strongest element of this site is you, the community. The discussions we have on the site are great, but due to the volume of news that we're constantly adding to the site, it's hard to keep up with conversations once they go off the front page. Some of you new users might not know about this little hyperlink at the bottom of every discussion page:
If you're logged into the site, you can click on that "Watch this topic for replies", and that discussion thread will be flagged. What does that mean? Well, every time someone responds to that thread, you'll get an email message telling you there's been an update. Don't worry - it won't hammer you with 10 messages an hour. It only sends one message until you come back and check the thread, then it resets and waits for another update. It's a very nice system, one common to many forums, and it helps me keep up on discussions that I want to watch without having to go into the forums and manually check on them.
