Annoying Pocket PC Phone Feature

While reading James Borden's Pocket PC Life, I came across an interesting entry dated October 31. "I recently had the misfortune to spend a while traveling on rail network in the UK. Misfortune because the recent storms has seen massive delays and cancellations affecting many commuters across the country. While on the train I have been using the Windows Media Player to while away the hours and to conserve battery life toggle the screen off. However, whenever the phone loses or gains signal (which happens often on the train...), a notification is displayed, which of course turns on the screen. However, because WMP is in use, the screen will then not automatically switch off. This becomes an issue as the screen remains on until you toggle it off again, seriously wasting precious battery life. It would appear that the only solution would be to switch off the phone while on the train :("
This isn't a big deal to most peope in North America since on planes we have to turn the radio off anyway, our train rides are short, not to mention almost non-existant, and in our cars we can plug it in not worrying about battery life, but for those in Europe, this can be a huge deal. So, keep an eye on that screen if you're listening to Windows Media Player while traveling with your Pocket PC Phone. There are additional comments here.
