Games, games, games

Not too long ago staff from software houses Handango and PocketGear was interviewed and one of the questions was about what drives their revenues. Both answered: games.
The answer confirms the market picture painted by the article "Wireless Games The Next Internet Goldmine". According to the article, the global mobile game industry generated US$436.4 million in revenues last year. Some analysts even digs up the long forgotten term "Internet goldmine". The figure below illustrates future revenue predictions from some research companies. Although all of them have failed miserably in almost all of their past wireless predictions before (WAP, 3G etc), I think they have a better grasp this time. I don't doubt wireless gaming will mean as much, if not more, to the mobile computing market as gaming does to the PC market.
