Foo Fighter sends in this link about the battle Microsoft is waging in the media format space with Apple and Real. This paragraph near the bottom is interesting. "Apple and Real increasingly are looking to win more support for their file formats on embedded devices, such as Palm handhelds or cell phones. But Gartenberg said the battle of media formats would be won or lost on the PC, not other devices. There, Microsoft's Windows monopoly could be decisive."
I am not a big fan of Real or Quicktime products but I know many people are. In fact, I have neither on my personal PC. Choice is good though, and Real made their Real One player available for Pocket PCs earlier this year. Even though I wouldn't likely use it, I would like to see Quicktime come to the Pocket PC. It would give the platform more cache, and anything to boost the usability of the Pocket PC is a good thing.
