Yesterday I read about Nokia's new PC Card that integrates wireless LAN (WiFi 802.11b), GSM and GPRS connectivity, in the Swedish IT-magazine Computer Sweden. This ZDNet article is in English and serves most of you a lot better...!
"It extends personal mobility further with remote access to corporate services. Users will need only one device for mobile data services and e-mail, but will have more options for connecting to the Internet and the company intranet," said Nigel Rundstrom, vice president for strategic marketing in Asia Pacific, in a statement."
The card "...is compatible with enhanced GSM 900/1800 networks, can attain transmission rates of up to 40.2kbps using GPRS and 43.2kbps with HSCSD. It also offers up to 11Mbps in wireless LAN environments. The card can be used with portable devices with a type II or type II PC card slot. It operates in Windows 98 SE, Me, 2000, XP, Windows CE 3.0 and Linux systems. The D211 is expected to be commercially released in the second quarter of 2002. Pricing details were not available at press time."
