Atari Classics Make Their Way To Xbox Live

"Last week, Centipede - a very nice arcade port and Game Room title - hit Xbox Live. This week, Microsoft follows up with two more Game Room games: Asteroids Deluxe and Pitfall."
Microsoft has added two more Game Room games this week. This time it's two Atari-platform classics: Asteroids Deluxe and Pitfall. If you are an "old time" gamer (say, from the 1980's), just seeing these screenshots may bring a smile to your face. The wpcentral site posting adds some notes that illuminate some interesting history. The arcade version of Asteroids Deluxe featured vector graphics that were tinted blue by a transparent overlay. Behind the vector graphics, a printed backdrop added a bit more color. In addition, Asteroids Deluxe did not use a joystick for movement, but rather individual buttons turned the ship left or right and caused it to accelerate. Clearly, these may not be the most sophisticated games, but they are a lot of fun to play and will entertain you for hours.
